| Itinerary |
Day1Fly to Bergen via Oslo or Copenhagen (www.flysas.com). Take the airport bus (Flybussen) to the city centre (Fish market). There you will be met by the guide and booked into your hostel. After you have checked in there will be a briefing of the trip and a gear check. Students can then stock up on advised food and equipment for expedition. Then there is an historical walking tour of the city and bed at approximately 11pm. Day2Breakfast is at 7am. Hop on board the boats at 8.15 am and travel to Sognefjord 80km to the north. 13.00 leave the boat and meet up with Eddie an have lunch. 14.00-1900 Learn to sea kayak and begin a 3 day sea kayak adventure through the majestic Songefjord, the worlds deepest and longest fjord. 20.00 - Set up camp, prepare dinner and sleep. Day3Breakfast is at 7am. 8am leave the camp and start paddling, having lunch enroute and finishing at approx 18.00 hrs. 19.00 - Set up camp, prepare dinner and sleep. Day4Breakfast is at 7am. 8am leave the camp and start paddling, having lunch enroute. Arrive at Flam at approximately 14.00 hrs. Time to disembark and put away sea kayaks. 15.00 Catch train to Mydrial 15.30 Catch train to Bergen 18.00 Check back in to the hostel in Bergen city centre and prepare last dinner. 20.00 Take a well deserved break and have a debriefing session with Eddie. Day5Breakfast is at 6am. 6.30 Take the airport bus (flybussen) to the airport 8.00 Depart for Dublin arriving back in Ireland at 11.30. Alternatively you can continue your journey with the An Gaisce Gold Expedition outlined below. An Gaisce Gold Expedition - Day 6You will spend an extra day camping and exploring the high mountains and summer snow on foot in Songefjord. You will learn and experience Viking life, while exploring this breath taking area. Prepare to be amazed as you experience the steep cliffs of the fjords as they meet the deep waters of the world's deepest fjord. This extra day gives you a total of four full expedition days, three sea kayaking and one walking all the while camping and living in the great outdoors of Norway. |
